Happy New Year!

 
We are on the eve of another new year, 2014, and I have been spending a bit of time today reflecting.  The old year is just about closed and put on the shelf as a mere memory.  How blessed we are to have known the heaping measures of health, hope and happiness.  A closer examination of the year would certainly show smaller measures of pain, fear and sadness.  Our greatest portion has been God's continual faithfulness.    
 
The opening song in the musical Rent ask, "How do you measure, measure a year?"  Good question!   This song has prompted me to ponder in previous years.  I thought I would include it here perchance you too would consider how you measure your year! 
 
Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes

Redesigned!

It's sometimes needed!  A little tweak here - a little tuck there - a smear of paint,
a new couch, a comfy rug! 
The lights are dim,
the air is musty,
and things just need to be refreshed - redesigned!
This corner has been neglected way too long.  Way too long! 
So I took a few moments...changed the paint!
Updated the info!  Hung a new picture...all by myself!
Allowed myself a few moments to find 'sanctuary' again.
Hope you'll come meet me here...hope He'll meet you here!

Silent Retreat

I've only been on one and must confess it was not the easiest thing I ever did.
It's probably time for another.
Noise is all around us...traffic...people...life...busyness...voices.
Just saw the movie, "A Thousand Words".  It's a comedy so I would think they weren't hoping to give much food for thought or teach many lessons.  I captured a few.
Stop talking...listen...really listen...take time...pay attention.
The Psalmist wrote, "Be still..."
If you knew the next one thousand words were your last, what would you want to say?  And to whom?

I'm smellin' coffee...birds are singin' just outside...Chris Rice sings this but I know the experience!  It's morning time and I'm abit of a morning person.  A new day stretches out before us - unmarked.  My planner will soon tells me what my focus will be, where I need to be, why I need to be there.  Do you know what the best thing about mornings is?  Better than breakfast, better than a hot shower, better than two matching socks, yes even better than coffee!  God's mercies!  "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22-23)  While your coffee is brewing tomorrow morning, remember to thank Him for His mercy!
